Nettle's Whisper
1
There is a green fire in nettle at twilight
It hums like a thought that stings and soothes the same.
You must be still to hear what it is singing.
It sings of love, but not by any known name.
“I want to be with you everywhere,” it says.
“I want to be with you everywhere,” it stays.
2
The roots hold secrets older than our speaking.
We walk above them, never thinking to ask.
Still, something brushes back through skin and shadow
The spirit behind the nettle lifts her mask.
“I want to be with you everywhere,” she says.
“I want to be with you everywhere,” she stays.
3
Not all things soft are kind; not all pain is cruel.
To love like nettle is to risk being known.
To touch, to sting, to heal with steady presence
To find a place where even thorns have grown.
“I want to be with you everywhere,” they say.
“I want to be with you everywhere,” they stay.
