#NaPoWriMo2026 #Day23 #Pendulum #OffPrompt

Pendulum

Tonight,
off‑prompt,
I fluctuate
fugue-swing
 Weigh gratitude in one hand,
fear in the other.
Hope flickers.
Grief breathes.
I’m too tired to choose a feeling,
so I let them all sit beside me
until sleep's mallet seduction.

#NaPoWriMo2024 #Day23 #WonderWoman

Wonder Woman Wonder Woman
All the world is waiting for you…

Waiting for me?
Why can’t they do for themselves?

It’s that woman’s work is never done rigmarole.
The power I possess is more than my satin tights.

Little girls were inspired –
that they could rope truth.

The tragic irony was the lasso
was meant as allegory for feminine charm!

Yet little girls grow – made dizzy from spinning.
Patriarchy literally made them spew.

Eight decades and change
I still inspire them to be resilient and powerful.

#napowrimo2022 #day23 #youcanlead

"You can lead..."

You can lead a horse
to water but
you cannot
make it drink.

You can lead a
student to learning
but you cannot
make her think.

You can lead a politician
to public office
but you cannot
make him serve.

They may not be
thirsty, bright or honest,
indeed you may lead
but in turn they may swerve.

A little patience

There are those whom no amount of patience looks likely to improve ever...

I've been underdog.
Written off, pitied for the
waste of potential,
crip, pram face, all limiting
labels I chose to release.
